20    HOUSTON -- Wings & Wheels - Cessna Day/Let's Go Flying Day! - http://www.1940airterminal.org, The 1940 Air Terminal Museum at William P. Hobby Airport (KHOU) From the most popular and prolific training airplanes in the world, the Cessna 152 & Cessna 172, to cabin-class twins like the Cessna 421, and even to the fastest civilian jet in the world, the Cessna Citation X, the company that Clyde Cessna started has always and continues to make great airplanes. We would like to welcome any and all Cessnas, from early 120's, 140's, and 195's to modern 350's, 400 s, and jets to our ramp on this day! Also on this day, come meet representatives from several local flight schools and take the first steps toward realizing your dream of becoming a pilot! Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children and includes access to the museum, static aircraft and vehicle displays, and lunch. Admission is waived for visitors who fly in. 27    SAN MARCOS -- BiPlane Fly-In. San Marcos (KHYI) BiPlane Fly-In at KHYI, on 27 March 2010. We will have airframe competitions including Best New BiPlane and Best Restoration before our Lunch Cook-Out and in the afternoon we'll have war bird flights with our CenTex CAF Wing T-6 to B-25. We are getting groups rates at the Embassy Suites with shuttle bus service, and we are hoping to be visited by the Fokker DR ! TriPlane. Let's help keep the Double Lift Fly-ins airborne! 17    SAN ANTONIO -- Bluebonnet Picnic and Fly-in - http://www.als-cannonfield.com, Cannon Field (53TX) The Alamo Liaison Squadron's annual picnic flying and fundraiser is scheduled for April 17th in 2010. All are invited. There is no gate fee, only a donation for the barbeque. Events will likely include the traditional "L-bird" demo as well as the flour bombing and spot landing contest. 8    SMITHVILLE -- Smithville Airport Fly-In and Pancake Breakfast - http://www.smithvilletx.org, Smithville Crawford Municipal Airport (84R) The skies above Smithville are buzzing with activity on the second Saturday in May from 9 a.m. until noon with the annual Airport Fly-In Pancake Breakfast. The Smithville-Crawford Municipal Airport 84R plays host to pilots and their guests that fly in for a complimentary pancake breakfast cooked by Chamber board members and volunteers from the City and a day of fun and shopping Smithville-style! Area residents are also invited to explore the airport facilities, visit with the pilots, browse the exhibits, and grab a bite to eat as well. This event is designed to promote our airport to pilots who are unfamiliar with it, and to remind citizens that the only airport in Bastrop County lies right in their backyards well, almost…technically, it’s located just south of Hwy 71 at Loop 230. Since Walter Beech came out with his first airplane, the Beechcraft Company has come out with many, many types of aircraft, and has established themselves as the lead manufacturer of aircraft for fast, safe, private transportation. On this Wings & Wheels day, we pay tribute to this great company and line of aircraft by welcoming Beechcraft of all models to the museum. From early-model Staggerwings to late-model King Airs and BeechJets, we welcome them all! Also, May 15 will be the first National Learn to Fly Day! As part of this event, we will invite local flight schools from our March Wings & Wheels to return and we will have a special presentation in the afternoon about learning to fly! Even if you start with a kit, there is still a tremendous amount of fabrication and assembly to be done. But, if you ask anyone who has built their own airplane, it is worth it for at the end, you have an airplane that is custom-fit and custom-designed to your choosing. Join us on this day to see some of these home-built custom creations, as well as many other Experimental-category airplanes! Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
